In all the years we have been photographing weddings, this is a first for us.

We had a couple of minutes before her wedding to get a portrait done.

This was taken in a small chapel next door to the sanctuary where she

would soon be married.

Behind the firehouse where they had their reception, was a wonderful sloping hill which was perfect for pictures....and a kiss!

Sharon Woods was in full color when Mandy had her Senior Session.

I love her blue shoes...up in a tree!

It was natural to use the benches surrounding the lake...

All of her portraits are beautiful.

You can't see them, but there were people on the rocks at the waterfall. So, what did Bari do? Climb into the stream. Of course Mandy was there too. How else would we get these killer poses?

My favorite! Love the steps...lots of steps...love the pose and love the muted color. Moody and artistic.....

Madeline on Pointe at Ault Park.....Sunset

This was Bari's image...classic ballet at sunset with columns.

This was my favorite...I love her face. Beautiful portrait....

I love the light from the right and shadow on left...Something moody about it. We had a discussion about lighting and if it was considered 'correct' or not.

I think this one is Madeline's favorite. I like the unusual use of columns. We would have tried a different pose here, but immediately following this shot, a large SUV parked right behind her. Love the light here too.

We wanted to use the steps. The soft box is to the right, and I am spotlighting her face with a hand held light. It was getting pretty dark by now.

After this series was done, we looked down the steps and 3 little girls had been watching us photograph. They immediately jumped up and yelled,"Mom! It's a Ballerina! Mom! It's a Ballerina!" How cute!

We love photographing our families, brides and High School Seniors. It is nice to take an hour of our day to photograph our own children. We have been talking about doing this for almost a year. I'm glad the portraits turned out so well.

A word of advice if you like the 'Point' shoes...ballet look. We used Madeline's point shoes from last year. By the time we were done, they were pretty ripped up on the toe.

There was a large pumpkin farm close by. This was a perfect choice for autumn portraits....

We hunted for a straight country road... and the search paid off...

We started the day outside the Planetarium. I really loved this sculpture, it was huge! Geoff and Cassie were actually standing inside it for this picture.

The skyline of Chicago is beautiful.

Our first experience with the Cloud! It really does look more like a Jelly Bean though. Love Love Love the reflection of the skyline here.

There were green spaces, and parks all over the down town area. It was a beautiful day to wander the city for portraits.

The bridges and waterways were wonderful. Couldn't pass up the chance for a couple of portraits here.

We had a fabulous time in Chicago...Not only wandering throughout downtown with Geoff and Cassie, but Saturday night, watching the sunset from the John Hancock building was beautiful!

We started at Spring Grove. Kaila really liked this old doorway. We loved the colorized look with it.

Graffiti! Bright colors with an unmistakable urban flair. This is not a set, that's why we love on location portrait sessions.

On to Findlay Market. We were crazy about the multi-color storefronts. Kaila is so cute in her little black dress and PINK pumps!

Who says a head and shoulder portrait has to be boring?

The Bride was Beautiful, the setting was gorgeous, the day was spectacular.

Jill and her matching flower girl in a beautiful park setting.

It was Garden of Eden EVERYWHERE! We loved HJ Benken. The Greenhouses were full of summer color.

What a dream setting for Jill.

We love a touch of artistic colorization here and there. This portrait sets the mood of an intimate encounter.

What can we say about Mrs Benken's Gardens? She was very kind and helpful. I think she enjoyed us being in her garden as much as we loved photographing there!

This may be my very favorite of the couple. I have no words to describe this. Do you?

Did you know that behind HJ Benken's is a pond with rolling hills? It is a perfect setting for an out door wedding.

We have had some really cute shoes lately, but these took the cake! Jessie started the day in the cute-cute platform ruffles on the left, and changed into the 'chucks' on the right- after the ceremony. Super cute and sensible!

Meet our newest pet, "Bob the Bunny". "He's got a mean streak a mile wide." Not really. But it's good to insert a little Monty Python into daily life when possible. Sammy named him. I'm sure my friend, Mr. Bob G. won't find it quite as funny as I did. Anyway, I didn't have any plans on keeping this guy.... But when Madeline saw him.... "he's so cute, etc., etc...." I had NO chance.

Thanx to Aiden "the peanut", for being such a great performer. And thanx to Holly "mother of peanut", for bringing him in. We captured this image and others while photographing "bunny sessions" for a cause. Our friends Elmer and Kristen were blessed with a beautiful baby girl last year. As their little girl got older they found out she was unable to see. They are trying to raise funds to afford therapy to help her vision. This is Sammy, our youngest. And the hardest. There was not going to be any "look at the camera and smile" with him. He squints, closes his eyes, and just can't do it. Now, I've been taught a few tricks. We ended up just trying to make "over the top" excited, silly faces. We kept coming up with even more ridiculous scenarios and eventually his fake face looked real. This is a pretty good example of just because I'm the adult doesn't mean I'm in charge. He is going to act how he wants. The more I demand, or pressure, the worse he'll get. Better to take a different route. Our kids can really be unpredictable. Sam is no different- I'm never sure what he knows or what he is thinking. Earlier this fall, I was at Kroger and bought him a box of ice cream sandwiches- "Sammies". Being kind of naive, I thought he'd be all about it- it's named after him after all. His response; "Why should I like those, I don't like Samuel Adams!" We don't drink, there's no beer in the house, I don't really know why he would have any concept of what it is or certainly what it tastes like. I'm sure you all have even funnier examples of "kidspeak". Have a good weekend. I think the forecast is for more snow!

Here's another image from Saturday of my son. We used to ski every week when he was younger. I taught him out at Perfect North when he was four and a half. I learned how to ski backwards without poles and how to pick him up by the back of his ski suit at the same time. It was such a great time with him. We really did it together. When he played soccer, baseball, etc. all I could really do was watch from the sidelines and be encouraging. Where has time gone? It seems like I blinked and now he's a senior and his life is divided up with activities. I'm very proud of my son and what he is becoming. But sometimes I miss the days when he was small.

I LOVE snow. I don't care if it's cold, wet, windy, hard to drive in, or whatever. I am originally from Southern Tennessee and when I was really young, snow was special. Didn't happen often. Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, the Island of Misfit Toys & the Abominable... These things only came around occasionally. I know it's corny, but snow makes me feel like a kid again.

Took the kids out Saturday for a little fun. This is my daughter, Madeline. You don't have to wait until Spring for cool images. (I hope you caught that!) I'll post more images later...
